Bathroom Waste Bins - The Oval Pedal

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

Bathroom pedal waste bins are not the first item when considering designing a layout but if they are not considered from the start they can sit in an uncomfortable position in the room.

I like the Oval bathroom bin from Tapstore.com as it has a 5 liter family capacity made from durable and  hygienically safe stainless steel finish.

It will sit in the corner of a room with out taking up the space due to its small projection compared with a round pedal bin.

RRP £52.01 Tapstore.com £46.00.

Shower Valves - Recessed

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

Recessed shower valves are harder to install but look certainly neater in design and are better in performance. Why I hear you ask?

The Crosswater Totti thermostatic shower valve (left) is a nice example of a crosshead shower valve with a ten year guarantee and will function well right down to 0.2bar pressure. available from tapstore for £252.00.

I also like there Bristan Artisan shower at only £99.00 it is a bargain it comes with a 5 year guarantee and is thermostatic as well the handles and front plate are not as good a quality as with the crosswater valve but for less than half the price who would worry.

Both available from Tapstore.com

  • Mini Basin Mixers - Just right for the cloakroom

    Sunday, November 16th, 2008

Mini Basin Mixers have become all the rage now with manufacturers they are launching more models all the time, I have been looking into this phenomenon and it is based around the common use of smaller cloakroom basins being squeezed into WC’s to create a cloakroom out of a toilet.

I remember when we used to use short reach basin taps for cloakroom basins, but they were very traditional in style now with the modern clean minimalist style being the main stay of the bathroom market smaller monobloc basin mixers are the solution, so I thought I should introduce a few to you.

Firstly the Logic mini monobloc basin mixer from Crosswater (pictured above right) RRP £169.00 with its cubist design is minimal and simple.

Next is the Java mini basin mixer from Bristan (Pictured left). Delicately arched, the understated design this Java basin tap borrows from nature, imitating the gentle flow of water flowing leisurely downstream RRP £116.00.

Then we have the Storm Mini monobloc basin mixer the cheapest of the three taps featured, The Storm basin mixer tap will provide you with the ultimate in clean lines and with it’s single lever handle at an amazing price. The design of this basin tap will not only meet all the design criteria for the modern, minimalist bathroom it is also fitted with an Eco water saving device that can be adjusted to limit your water flow rate and your water temperature. Towel Rails - Curved

    Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Curved heated towel rails are selling in far greater numbers now as bathroom designers are getting bored of the flat look, they are in fact far more practical as there is more clearance behind the heated towel rail for placing towels neatly.

A little trick I learnt for placing towels on the radiator for displaying heated towel rails in my showroom has stayed with me today as it is not only a great look but there are other hidden benefits.

Here’s the tip, hang the towel (folded length ways) over the first gap in the rails then tuck into the second gap so that the towel is behind the rail, it not only looks neat it also makes the heat project forward.

The towel rail Shown is the Greenwich from Tapstore which is 600mm wide and comes in at a very reasonable £66.00 in white and £121.00 in chrome. It is available in both 500 and 600mm wide versions and in heights ranging from 770 up to 1755mm.

    Guaranteed for 5 years.

    RRP £175.00 in chrome.
