Bath Shower Mixers
Deck Mounted Bath Shower Mixers are a hot and cold mixer taps with the addition of a diverter that changes the water flow from the bath spout to the shower hose and handset. These are by far the best selling ways to fill a bath as they are simple and easy to install,you can find versions for all plumbing systems whether you have low or high pressure. The pipe centers for bath shower mixers is 180mm as standard and the plumbing connects with a 3/4″ pipe size. There are three types of diverter’s that come with bath shower mixers a change over valve that is moved from left to right common on traditional taps, change over diverter’s tend to work best with lower pressured systems, you then have a plunger style where you lift up the plunger to divert the water to the shower handset and then you have the lockable plunger where you can lift and twist the diverter.
Monobloc Bath Shower Mixers are for shower baths that do not have enough space to install standard deck mounted bath shower mixer. The mixing valve (cartridge) is larger in bore than a standard valve which is what the concept was based on, standard basin mixers have a 35mm cartridge whereas bath shower mixers have a 50mm cartridge.
The operation of the mixer is simple lifting for flow and turning left right for hot and cold making the ability to mix the temperature very simple.
The diverter to the shower will when lifted change the flow of water from filling the bath to the shower handset.
Four Hole Bath Shower Mixers have become very popular with the design orientated consumer nowadays as the shower hose is stored nice and neatly below the bath getting rid of unsightly hoses and keeping that minimal look. They still have a 3/4″ connection into the hot and cold valves they then interconnect into the spout where there is a built in diverter normally at the back of the spout which will divert between the bath spout and the shower hose and handset. the centers between the hole are normally 90mm in the bath which are usually drilled out of the bath, where they would be fitted is the long side of the bath so they are perfect for double ended baths.
